Derbyshire agricultural dealer B&B Tractors have helped a farmer to take advantage of a new subsidy scheme to discount installation of the CESAR security system on farm machinery. The subsidy scheme has been funded by Bolsover District Council, North East Derbyshire District Council and Derbyshire Police and offers a 50% discount on CESAR Security systems for agricultural machines and ATV’s.  Discounts are also available on Datatag security systems for trailers and 4x4 vehicles. The second CEA CESAR Champion Award for 2020 has been awarded to Marie Biddulph from Highways England. Earlier this year the Construction Equipment Association (CEA) launched its CESAR Champion initiative to recognise the efforts of officials who uses the CESAR technology to identify a stolen piece of machinery. In an effort to encourage more engagement with the CESAR Security Scheme, the award is now being given to any officer who completes 10 checks on agricultural or construction machines or ATVs protected with the security system. CONSTRUCTION PLANT THEFT SOARS BY AN ESTIMATED 50% AS COVID-19 FORCES SITES TO CLOSE

During the last fortnight, there has been a marked increase in plant and tool theft from both vehicles and site compounds. The sharp spike in thefts is largely due to construction firms and contractors temporarily scaling down work and shutting jobsites due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The CEA (Construction Equipment Association), owners of the CESAR scheme (the plant marking and registration initiative), reports on the latest crime spree and talks to industry specialists, who were able to offer sound advice to construction firms on measures they can take to help prevent plant and tool theft, and how companies can assist police with the recovery and identification of stolen kit. Datatag ID renewed their membership with Secured by Design (SBD), the national police crime prevention initiative, recently and looks to expand the range accredited products.

Accreditation with SBD requires products to be subjected to rigorous testing and additionally be fully certificated by an independent, third-party certification body accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) before being allowed to carry the SBD logo - this onerous process is the only way for companies to obtain police accreditation for security-related products in the UK. JCB MAKES CESAR EMISSIONS COMPLIANCE VERIFICATION STANDARD

CESAR Emissions Compliance Verification (ECV) will be standard on every JCB EU Stage V and electric machine for the UK market from March 1, 2020. A second label, which can easily be scanned to verify the machine's emissions compliance, will be positioned alongside the existing CESAR triangle. UK projects already trialling the scheme, have found that less time is being lost on delivery to site and there are fewer air quality inspections required for equipment in operation. Read More

Hitachi Construction Machinery (UK) have confirmed that from January 2020, every mini, medium and large excavator, wheeled loader and wheeled excavator will be fitted with the new CESAR Security ECV System powered by Datatag technologies as standard.

The Construction Equipment Association (CEA) launched the new CESAR Emissions Compliance Verification (ECV) at Plantworx 2019 and stated that it was an invaluable 'bolt-on' product which compliments the well established CESAR Security System, allowing quick and easy verification of a machine's emissions category.
