The South Rural Crime Taskforce are the first winners of a prestigious national award from the Construction Equipment Association, for being the most proactive rural crime team in the UK.
The South Rural Taskforce covers the areas of Chorley, South Ribble, Preston and West Lancashire and comprises of four officers, PC Stewart, PC Dalby, PC Williams and PC Levitt. The team has only been established since March 2021 and in its short time has already achieved a long list of successes within the rural community, including: seizing 61 animals exposed to cruelty and neglect, recovered 173 stolen vehicles and plant equipment, security marked in excess of £800,000 of equipment, prosecuted 98 offenders and conducted 74 occasions of partnership work. A Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) from Leicestershire Police has become the first CESAR champion to be awarded with two awards at once.
PCSO Tom Vaughan is the latest winner of the prestigious CESAR award and is the very first officer to receive TWO CESAR Champion badges for identifying a piece of stolen construction plant and an agricultural machine on consecutive days. Read More

Two Lancashire police officers have been awarded the CESAR champion badge after they successfully identified a stolen telehandler using the CESAR scheme.
PC Daniel Haworth and PC Peter Mather, of Rossendale’s Rural Task force of Lancashire Constabulary, attended a location in Burnley where there had been a large piece of plant machinery left parked overnight. PC Haworth and PC Mather attended the location in support of Immediate Response. Read More
